Preventive Care

Benjamin Franklin once stated, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” At Urban Dentistry, we want to help you achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime. One of the ways we can do this is through our comprehensive preventive care options. These dental treatments are designed to keep your teeth and gums clean, shiny, and free of damage and decay. Additionally, our advanced techniques and technology can help to reduce the risk of future dental complications, minimize the need for restorative procedures, and screen for oral cancer. We also understand that preventive care is only useful if you receive it, so we strive to make your experience with us as quick, effective, and pleasant as possible.

Comprehensive Oral Exams

We would love to see you any time, but we recommend at least twice yearly visits for oral exams and teeth cleaning. This allows our experienced team to remove plaque and tartar buildup and polish teeth in a way brushing and flossing alone cannot accomplish. We can also detect and treat minor dental concerns before they become more significant issues. Notice something different? Talk to us about any symptom you may have, including headaches, problems sleeping, or jaw clicking, so we can determine if your oral structures are contributing factors and develop a treatment plan.

I have been going to Urban Dentistry for a few years now, and this place is by far the best. The office is beautiful, the staff is super friendly, and Nadja Horst is amazing!

Digital X-Rays

At Urban Dentistry, we utilize the most advanced technology available to enhance your health and experience. Digital X-rays use about 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays, and they don’t require you to wear heavy, lead-lined vests or bite down on uncomfortable filmstrips. Furthermore, digital X-rays typically provide a higher-definition image in less time, allowing us to diagnose dental concerns faster and more accurately than ever before.

Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection and treatment is essential in the fight against cancer, which can affect any of the soft tissues of the mouth as well as the facial bones. Our oral cancer screening will evaluate your gums, tongue, throat, lips, and other structures for preliminary signs of oral cancer. Speedy diagnosis and care has been shown to dramatically increase one’s chance of survival. We complete this in-depth scan as part of your regular twice-yearly comprehensive oral examination.

Mouth Guards

If you grind your teeth at night, wake up with headaches, or experience signs of TMJ disorder, a mouth guard from our office can help you minimize damage and discomfort. We will customize a mouth guard to fit precisely and comfortably, which can improve your quality of sleep and reduce wear and tear on your teeth and gums. Additionally, we will work with you to diagnose the underlying issue and help you reduce or eliminate grinding.

Dental Sealants

Some patients are prone to cavities due to a genetic predisposition to decay. If you maintain good oral hygiene but still experience occasional cavities, dental sealants from our office can add an extra layer of protection. Our durable sealants are designed to envelop the exterior of the treated tooth, protecting against bacteria that can cause decay, gum disease, and other harmful effects.

Bad Breath Care

We all experience bad breath from time to time, but if you struggle with morning breath at all hours even when diligently brushing and flossing, we can help. Factors that can contribute to halitosis, the medical term for bad breath, include certain foods, poor oral hygiene, and genetic predisposition. Urban Dentistry offers a range of treatments designed to neutralize odors and freshen your breath morning, noon, and night.
